China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute announced that Chinese government planned to cut steel production volumes up to 80 million tons by the following five years to reduce the serious air polluted environment around cities in China.

This policy will improve the air quality which has been polluted by steel industries for years as one of the largest steel mills in Hebei province will target to back its steel production volumes to 60 million tons by 2017 but local official will push to reduce crude steel production to 15 million tons by 2014.

The central government is forcing to proceed this new policy with full cooperation from steel mills for energy saving & emission reduction for the future environmental clean air improvement.
